This paper intends to review the role of political culture of Shiism in formation of social solidarity in Iran since Safavid era. As far as defining political culture of Shia school of thought is concerned, the expression encompasses a vast portion of beliefs and religious values of Shiism coming from various Shia sources and approaches. It is indeed an instrument for actions and reactions of Shia Muslims vis-à-vis political systems. Authored based on a descriptive-analytical method and library and historical sources, this paper has found out that the political culture of Shiism since Safavid era, in addition to sense-making, has had other functions for creating solidarity, identity and legitimacy in such a way that it has managed to exert influence on establishing law and order in Iranian community, promote mental health, and educate the community. On the other hand, the rise of political culture of Shiism in Safavid era led to confrontation with deviated movements and with the Sunni rule of the Ottoman Empire. During the Qajarid era, as inspired by the anti-oppression teachings of the Imams, the political culture of Shiism united the community against persecution and oppression of Qajar kings and led the fight against such contracts and accords as Reuters, Tobacco, …. During the Pahlavid era, the political culture of Shiism aligned against extremist nationalism and archaism and created and led public solidarity to topple the regime. Finally, in the current period, it has played a key role in construction of the society and its developments. In total, the political culture of Shiism has been an effective factor for social solidifying since Safavid era
