Neo-traditionalism, which is associated with the name of Sayed Hossein Nasr, despite its indebtedness to traditionalism, emerged after the Islamic Revolution and the rise of Islamic jurisprudence in Iran and tried to criticize it. According to Nasr, the connection between religion and government in Iran is not limited to the recent period, but kings have also considered themselves guardians of religion. Thus, the discourse of neo-traditionalism was formed in response to the two phenomena of modernity and the political Islam, and he believed that these two have led to the weakening of tradition, and therefore the theory of neo-traditionalism was highlighted to protect the tradition. Therefore, the main question of this article is how to represent the general origins and coordinates of the Nasr neo-traditionalism. The purpose of this article is to identify and infer the political thought of neo-traditionalism and its leading thinker, Sayed Hossein Nasr, especially his view of the government. The method of this study is qualitative content analysis of relevant texts and works.
