Strategic Pragmatism in Imam Khomeini's Political Thought

Abstract
Political revolutions have unique characteristics and it makes sense according to the model of action of its political leaders. The Islamic Revolution of Iran is inextricably linked with the political and strategic thinking of Imam Khomeini. Imam Khomeini's thoughts have created a special form of revolutionary models in the political structure of Iran and the international system, interpreted on the basis of signs of strategic pragmatism. Such an approach implies that the political and revolutionary developments of Iran, under the influence of imam's teachings, have led to the process of political victory and the expansion of regional power, which has been based on signs of pragmatism.
Revolutionary pragmatism reflects the signs of political action based on the initiative to control the political and social environment. The Islamic Revolution of Iran, like many political revolutions, is considered as a rapid, fundamental and effective change in the internal structure and peripheral environment. Revolutionary transformation that could affect the dominant values ​​and myths of a society, political institutions, social structure, and strategic action patterns. Changes in institutions, values, and political processes in revolutionary societies require leaders who have the capability to take tactical and strategic pragmatism.
The main question of the article is based on this proposition: "What is the characteristic of the political leadership of Imam Khomeini, and what has influenced the process of the Islamic revolution?" The hypothesis of the article points out that: "The leadership of the Islamic Revolution based on Are signs of strategic pragmatism and have created the ground for the preservation and consolidation of the Islamic Revolution of Iran". In this paper, interpretive methodology has been used and it is indicated that each of the researchers can interpret a particular pattern of revolutionary action of political leaders. The theoretical framework of the paper is based on the "participatory institutionalism of revolution leaders", which leads to an increase in the level of legitimacy and political efficiency of revolutionary leaders.
