Representation of religious identity in the novels, after the Islamic Revolution: Case Study: Novel about a city by Ahmad Mahmoud

Abstract
The aim of this article is the representation of the religious identity in a novel titled " A history of a city" that is written by Ahmad Mahmood. The main problem of this article is the relation between art (novel) and the objective reality that is religious identity, with the emphasis on two approaches: 1) Truth Production Theory 2) Representation Theory. This novel is examined on the basis of elements such as: narration, personality, scene study, and dialogue and  Discourse Analysis is used as a method. Religious identity is used in two dimension: 1) Faithfulness dimension 2) Rituals dimension. Faithfulness dimension is examined in studying personality in prison and rituals dimension is examined in Lengheh Port. The result is that the author restate personalities by  a kind of experience and religious comprehension. This restatement shows the role of religion sphere in public sphere of people life. The narration of the story is a linear and active one. The reason is that the author does not want to to impose only  a point of view, a vision, and a unique sound into the text .
