Interaction with international environment is one key issue with the revolutions. In all great revolutions claiming universality, the revolutionaries are of the opinion that the principles of their revolution are applicable to other communities, giving ground for them to export the revolution after victory. The Islamic Revolution of Iran, as a great revolution in contemporary world, was no exception to the rule. Given its nature, the issue of exporting Islamic Revolution gained momentum from the early days after the victory. Laying emphasis on universality and offering a universal definition of its revolutionary mission, the Islamic Revolution pictured certain area for exporting its values and principles in the 80s. Imam Khomeini’s charismatic leadership and the impact of his thoughts on the general structure of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s foreign policy influenced the issue of exporting Islamic Revolution. In the first decade after the revolution, ideological ideals coming from the Islamic universal fundamentals in exporting the revolution, overshadowed racial and national concepts in the formation of a dominant framework for exporting the revolution. This paper tries to investigate the status of nationalism and national concepts in the dominant discourse of exporting Islamic Revolution in the 80s in view of some revolutionary figures.
