Abstract
The Role of Expediency in Islamic Jurisprudence, with a Focus on Political Jurisprudence and the System of Velayat-e Faqih» Expediency holds a special position in Islamic jurisprudence (especially political jurisprudence). Political jurisprudence, in terms of utilizing expediency, deals with three main areas: «legislating laws by God, » «deducing Islamic legal rulings, » and «executing Islamic rulings». This paper focuses on the third role of expediencyi.e., «executing Islamic rulings»—and examines the role and position of expediency in Shiite political jurisprudence, particularly within the framework of the Velayat-e Faqih system, with an emphasis on the thoughts of Jawadi Amuli. Therefore, the main question is: What role does expediency play in the execution of Islamic rulings, and how does his perspective refer to this role? In this regard, a library-based method has been used to answer the question, and the research hypothesis is based on the belief that expediency plays a special role in political jurisprudence for the governance of the Islamic society, with a focus on Velayat-e Faqih, especially the absolute guardianship of the jurist (Velayat-e Motlaqeh Faqih). The findings indicate a duality of duty and authority for the jurist, as well as the expansion of the jurists authority based on the scope of their duties, up to the extent of the powers of the Prophet (PBUH) and the infallible Imams (A.S.) in executing Islamic rulings and determining expediency within the framework of correctly deducing Islamic laws to resolve conflicts between Islamic rulings, using the principle of «prioritizing the more important over the less important
