Constituting half of every community, women play a crucial role in social, political, cultural and economic developments, but the key to this role-playing is their empowerment. Empowerment primarily aims at helping the weak individuals to overcome their weaknesses, improve positive aspects of their life and boost their skills and abilities to wisely control their lives and translate them into action. The issue of women has been on the spotlight in Iranian society for ages. Imam Khomeini was an outstanding thinker concerning women’s issues. This paper reviews Thomas Spragens’ theoretical framework to study the current community, desirable community, and solutions for investigation of empowerment of women in view of Imam Khomeini. Findings of the paper indicate that the establishment of Islamic system of government and real enforcement of its rules and regulations in the society will provide appropriate grounds for empowerment of women and for creation of a deserving status for women in the community.
